IWA Sake of Japan was established in 2018, guided by inspiration from Richard Geoffroy, former chef de cave of Dom Pérignon. This brewery and the sake produced was shaped by Richard’s experiences visiting Japan over the preceding decade, discovering and delighting in the world of sake. He established the company behind the brand, Shiraiwa Co., Ltd with the intention of giving life to his vision, making IWA an ultra-premium ‘Sake of Japan’. IWA is crafted in Toyama, at a contemporary brewery or Kura named Shiraiwa, after the small town where it is located, designed by Richard’s friend and collaborator the world-renowned architect, Kengo Kuma.

This sake is created by blending multiple rice varieties, techniques and yeast strains to achieve remarkable complexity, harmony and a signature sense of weightless richness. The flagship IWA 5 is bottle aged for extended periods and designed for global gastronomy, pairing effortlessly with cuisines far beyond Japan.

Its striking Australian Marc Newson bottle and the serene Shiraiwa setting give the brand a compelling, design-driven luxury background and extensive vintage collection worthy of any discerning collector’s cellar or bar.
